How Do I Gain Weight on the Raw Food or Vegan Diet

http://www.therenegadehealthshow.com - I get this question more than you would think…

Sometimes in comes in this form: “How do I gain weight on the raw food diet?”

Other times it’s: “Help, I’m loosing weight too fast and I need help!”

Not that bad of an issue to have, but for some this means loosing muscle mass as well (I know, it happened to me).

    I think you can gain weight by eating more. Because calorie intake > calorie output = weight gain
    and when you dont do exercise especially anaerobics, the weight gain is mostly fat gain because our body store the extra energy as fat and glycogen (energy storage), not muscle. Try to do some anaerobic and eat more so you gain weight by muscle build up. its good for your bone density as well ^^ i think

    Once a day, took about 2 weeks to a month from memory. I’m pretty small (5′4″, small frame) so a tall woman or a guy would probably have to drink two or just have a huge one with heaps more fruit etc I’d say.

    I follow 80/10/10 now, I eat more fruits than ever, I stopped loosing muscle now :P

    Just drink whey protein isolate…. , and eat chicken breast , etc.

    I get about nearly 200g protein a day.

    This helped me gain 5kgs fast -

    *Coconut cream smoothie*
    1 handful of raw walnuts blended into a paste
    1 can of coconut cream
    1/2 a banana
    1 cup diced peaches
    1 tablespoon flax oil
    Mix together in a blender.

    Its quick and easy, tastes good and helps you get your omega 3s and some saturated fat in your diet whilst also helping you gain some weight. You could also add a protein powder or green powder if you wanted for higher nutrition :-)

    Eat raw salmon along side a raw diet (if you’re not a vegie) because it’s high in good fats, tastes great (sashimi!) and is high in protien, and countless other goodies.

    There are probably about 600-700 calories in the drink when I focus on putting on muscle/strength. But that is because I add a lot of extra stuff to it. But the exact drink the way it was written is around 600 calories. It’s great for muscle tone.

    Good stuff, but the Nutiva hemp protein powder is 100 % raw, so I like it much better. My basic muscle-building recipe is:
    1 serv. hemp protein powder, 2 tblspoon flaxseed oil, 4 tblspoon flaxseeds, 1 banana, 1 serv. fresh or frozen strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and a little bit of fresh coconutr meat and water, mixed w/ spring water. Blend and enjoy.
