Talking of rotation….

…we were talking of rotation. I can certainly see the application of this in martial arts or self defence

Does the hemisphere matters on the bullet direction of rotation?
Someone told me that the bullet direction of rotation is opposite in the two hemispheres. So in UK and Australia for example this will be opposite. Does the hemisphere really matters? Are guns designed differently for countries in opposite hemispheres? Does gravitational force plays a role on the above (always talking about different hemispheres). Thanks.
Thanks for your answers! Does the proximity to the earth's poles matters?

No. The barrel of a gun is bored out so that the bullet is spun out of the barrel, and all gun barrels are bored the same way, so it cannot make a difference

If that were true then guns made in the northern hemisphere would not work in the southern hemisphere. The grooves in the barel dictate the direction of the spin

All that matters is the riffling in the gun barrel.

no. the coriolis effect doesnt apply here. the bullet will twist in the directing the rifling inside the barrel twists

    No, in a word.

The rotation of the bullet is due to the rifling of the barrel in the gun. The barrel is manufactured, then twisted slightly, in order to make the bullet spin when it leaves the gun. This helps the bullet stay on course due to centrifugal forces.

The bullet will spin in the direction of the rifling, and is unaffected by the hemisphere in which it is fired.

James m is correct if what you heard were true then the us army would have to change weapons every time it crossed the equator.

Which of Earth's hemispheres a bullet is fired in has NO effect on a bullet's spin whatsoever. This is caused strictly by the direction and length of the 'rifling' of the weapon's barrel. The shorter the length of the 'twist', the faster the bullet will spin in a given distance. From behind the weapon, looking at the end of the barrel (IF you could actually SEE the bullet) a 'right-hand' twist will spin clock-wise, and a 'left-hand' will spin 'counter-clock'.
A 'smooth-bore' weapon, with no rifling, such as a shotgun or musket, will have no 'spin' at all.
