How do I ensure my weight loss does not plateau? I already eat 6 small meals, and do aerobic exercise daily for about an hr.
My meals consist of whole grains, lean meat, fruit and veggies.
I am 5′ 5” and 128. Are there any specific strength training exercises I can do without getting butch?
Try to incorporate some light weight training and core exercises…here are a few to get your started:
1. Plank
Lie down on your stomach and lift your body off the floor, resting your weight on your forearms (elbows at 90° degrees) and your toes. Keep your body in a straight position (without arching your back) and hold for as long as possible.
2. Pushup plank
Similar to the plank, except that you are in a pushup position, resting your weight on your hands and toes and holding as long as possible.
3. Ball roll-ins
Place your hands on the ground and your feet on top of a Swiss ball. Bend at the knees and roll the ball toward your chest. Hold this position and roll the ball back out.
4. Side bridge
Lying on your side, prop yourself on one elbow, forearm on floor and perpendicular to your body. Then raise your hip up off the floor to achieve a straight line from armpit to ankle, with only elbow and side of foot touching the ground. Hold for as long as possible on each side. you have to change it up. for instance, if you run on a treadmil today, you can do step aerobic tomorrow, if you do the same stuff everyday, your body will get used to it therefore you will plateau References : based on personal experience
You may want to try switching up the type of aerobics and weight training you’re doing. This will sort of shock your body into further weight loss, because the body does get used to workouts if they become the same routine. Plateaus in weight loss are normal, people often lose weight in spurts. References :
