social networking & blog portal - how to choose a suitable web programming language? Developing a networking and blog website. i am confused between PHP and asp.net primarily. which is a better programming language of the two, i am not a technical person. people say its easy to find .net developers and trusted source because its not open source as php. need your help to decide the portal's programming language.
There is no "best" language.
I know both and jsp too, but I prefer to stay in LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) environment BECAUSE it is open source. It is constantly updated with new tips and tricks and you can find solutions to more or less any problem.
Also, PHP/MySQL license is either free or relatively cheap while Microsoft ASP license cost money.
There are more PHP programmers then ASP programmers, actually.
The choice is up to you, but there is no real difference.
My personal suggestion: Go with PHP and set up a few WordPress blogs. Even non-technical person can do it and you do not need a developer for that. References :
