Fat Burning Exercises a Myth?
Given what’s happened the last few months … I’m almost inclined to think that fat burning exercises are a myth.

Where did the myth of spot burning originate?
Spot burning (ie. how can I trim fat off of my (insert body part here) is physiologically impossible. There is no exercise that can target one area of fat. Where did this myth begin?

probably from the same idiot that said that lifting heavy weights will stunt the growth in young adults. these "myths" are still spread today only by those with no real knowledge of human biology or human physiology.

I guess it’s an idea that stems from bodybuilding- working out a certain body part can increase the size of that muscle. Therefore, people automatically assume the same would work for burning off the fat from that area; with the whole notion that lighter weights and more sets burns fat, just add the same bodybuilding principle, except train that muscle using lighter weights and more sets.
The media can distort reality also, e.g. the "ab belts" that ‘melt away the fat’. You hear people on the streets giving advice to obese people such as, "put that donut down and do some crunches."
Basically, a lack of knowledge mixed with a little wishful thinking (as someone mentioned before me).
