Will my firefighting certification be paused if i join the marines for 4 years?
I am in high school and duel enrolled with a technical institute doing firefighting. I want to join the marines but a firefighting certification in Florida will become invalid if you dont volunteer or get a job within Florida in the first 3 years. I was wondering if i join the marines for 4 years will my fire certification be maybe paused because i was in the armed forces and couldn’t volunteer? Any help or numbers would be great thanks.

I don’t know for sure, but it sounds like it to me. How much trouble would it be to get re-certified in four years anyway? You may want to do something else by then or simply re-enlist and make the Corps your career. Regardless, the Corps will change you, on that you can count on.
BTW: You should change your UserID. You are not a Marine yet and have not earned the right to call yourself one.
Good luck.

Contact your school and find out if your certificate can be suspended for your first tour of duty as a Marine. If you plan on re-enlisting at the end of that, you will have to retake that course to get your certification back. However, there is no reason why you cannot be a Marine and a volunteer fire fighter at the same time, unless you are deployed overseas. Even then, you can always ask about a temporary suspension of your certificate while you are deployed.
