In spite of ….. or because of?

This is one where there are some assumptions at play! The paradigm is that fatty food is bad and exercise is good. Within that paradigm rising obesity in the face of a low fat diet must mean that exercise has been reduced.

There is of course an alternative paradigm - maybe one of the factors at play (and there will be a number of factors) is diet. Maybe less fat - replaced by carbs - is the problem

Anyway - here is the BBC story

Despite fewer visits to gyms and a love of high-fat foods, people in the 1960s were slimmer simply because they were more active, the government says.
Rates of obesity in English adults have risen from 1-2% in the 1960s to around 26% today, figures show.

.

……high fat foods like condensed milk and cooked breakfast were popular ……….

Of course there is a role for activity and movement is vital…..but see how fatty food is seen as a problem, not a reason for the lower levels of obesity

My dog is pooping and peeing on my things .. is she doing it out of spite because I am pregnant?
I am currently 6 months pregnant and buying stuff for my baby and usually we buy things for our dog and after everything we set up a new thing for the baby… like our stroller that same night she pooped on my bed… and was trying to poop on me. :| is it because of me being pregnant and she feels that I wont pay attention to her anymore?

Dogs do not act out of spite. They simply do not have the brain capacity to have that type of reaction. Your dog may be suffering from some anxiety. There are, obviously, lots of changes going on around your house. Your puppy senses this, and may be unsure about she may be unsure of her future. I doubt she knows that you are pregnant, but she definately knows that the household dynamics are changing.

Try beating this dog with a rolled up newspaper. If the behavior continues chain the dog up outside with a shock collar on to control barking. This way this dog will appreciate the next time it gets to come in the house.

I heard of that happening. If I was you, I would lose the dog tomorrow.
    Or ASAP…
If not,,,that dog may hurt the baby, when your not looking.
Lose the dog, or maybe…..lose your child.

Dogs aren’t capable of calculated thought that can be labeled as spite. Many dogs will have accidents in the house when there is upheaval, such as moving to a new house, new people moving in or kids leaving for college–and a new baby. She just senses changes happening and doesn’t understand it.
