Every workout matters….

This post links back to one I made in January:

your most recent workout is the most important….and stay low carb

in that one I pointed out research that each workout was important, each session had an immediate impact on making you healthier. It is not just an ongoing state that you are creating….but also you are benefitting from each time you train (with certain caveats).

Anyway I saw this study today and it seems to indicate similar things: the conclusion is that :

These results demonstrate an important mechanism by which each individual exercise session may incrementally reduce the risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD) in women.

It is there again, every session matters…everyone has an impact. As was pointed out in comments on the last post, this is motivational. What you do in this immediate workout will have a benefit…it will make you healthier.

Here is the abstract:

Plasma triglyceride concentrations are rapidly reduced following individual bouts of endurance exercise in women.

t is known that chronic endurance training leads to improvements in the lipoprotein profile, but less is known about changes that occur during postexercise recovery acutely. We analyzed triglyceride (TG), cholesterol classes and apolipoproteins in samples collected before, during and after individual moderate- and hard-intensity exercise sessions in men and women that were isoenergetic between intensities. Young healthy men (n = 9) and young healthy women (n = 9) were studied under three different conditions with diet unchanged between trials: (1) before, during and 3 h after 90 min of exercise at 45% VO(2)peak (E45); (2) before, during and 3 h after 60 min of exercise at 65% VO(2)peak (E65), and (3) in a time-matched sedentary control trial (C). At baseline, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) was higher in women than men (P < 0.05). In men and in women, total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), HDL-C, apolipoprotein A-I (apoA-I), apolipoprotein B (apoB), and LDL peak particle size were unaltered by exercise either during exertion or after 3 h of recovery. In women, but not in men, average plasma TG was significantly reduced below C at 3 h postexercise by approximately 15% in E45 and 25% in E65 (P < 0.05) with no significant difference between exercise intensities. In summary, plasma TG concentration rapidly declines following exercise in women, but not in men. These results demonstrate an important mechanism by which each individual exercise session may incrementally reduce the risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD) in women.

Is it more benificial to workout every day or every other day?
Say I had a workout routine. Would it be more benificial to workout every single say, or every other day. I’m 14 if it matters.

every other day because your body needs to heal itself from the workout. If you don’t give it that time then you could actually do more damage.

a hard work out should be every 2 days, because after you work out you ache right, your body needs to repair its self to make you stronger, so if you heavily work out every day you make yourself weaker.

You can workout every single day if you don’t get too sore from working out the day before. Never workout the same muscle group two days in a row.

every other day so your body has a chance to repair the muscle tissue that has torn - you’ll burn more calories this way too. You should never work the same muscle group two days in a row (ie - don’t do back and chest exercises two days in a row - it’s not good for the muscle)

5-6 times per week would be the best. try to go your hardest the first few weeks and once your in shape you can reduce it to every other day. i’ve been working out for a month and a half by doing this and can lift way more than i had back then, and already have a six pack. good luck !

You could just do different muscle groups different days.
And if it’s fitness workout you mean, the more you run the fitter you’ll get.

probably 4 or 5 times a week. if you workout everyday you’ll overwork your muscles which will mean if you keep working out when they’re overworked you wont see any results. the muscle’s first priority is too heal its self before it can build anymore and eating healthy is also important when you’re on a routine (not just not eating)

Every other day, if you exercise everyday your body gets used to it quickly and then the point of the exercise whether it is to lose weight , build muscle or whatever is defeated. You body will become used to the exercise and it will become less effective each day. It would also be good to change exercises every month or two.

At fourteen you can afford to work out everyday if you want, but it’s also okay for you to take a day off every once in a while. It’s good to let your muscles relax. Just remember that building muscle is good, but if you build up too much and stop working out, it turns to fat. To get lean build up to a reasonable number and do a high number of repetitions.

you would be in better shape if you worked out everyday.but, it isnt good to do that because even though you lose more weight, you might be very tired or get dehydrated.maybe start with 3 days a week, then go up to 5 but always give yourself time to rest.if there is one day where you just dont want to, something horrible happened, or your too tired, give yourself a break…drink tons of water!
