Sleep in the dark
This is something that I’ve referred to before and frankly something that scares me. I’ve previously mentioned the importance of sleeping in the dark, but this report stresses how important it is:
Artificial light at night disrupts cell division
Just 1 ‘pulse’ of artificial light at night disrupts the circadian mode of cell division — 1 of the body’s mechanisms that is damaged in the development of cancer

How to get to sleep?+Dark phobia?
1.How do you get to sleep. I find my self lying in bed figiting because I cant make my self comfortable and even when I do I just lie there awake.
2. I have a slight fear of the dark and i don’t know what to do as talking to someone about it makes me feel stupid as I’m 13. I lie in my bed feeling as if somethings gonna grab me especially when my house starts creaking.

Keep a night light on. It is your room and you can do whatever you want. It is important for you to feel comfortable so you can get enough sleep. It also might help if there was a hall light on near your room.
Try not to beat yourself up over this. Good Luck.

if i have a hard time sleeping i do one of two things(sometimes both.) i either drink some kind of calming tea or take melatonin.
the tea brand i like best is yogi tea. it can be found at organic stores and/or at your local grocery food chain or on the website http://www.yogitea.com. i drink either the calming, bedtime, or chamomile. they all have ingredients to help you relax. i usually buy the rest & relax sampler since it has all of the kind i like in it.
melatonin is a natural supplement that you can find at any walmart or vitamin store. melatonin is a chemical naturally released in your body (usually at night) when it starts to get darker to help you fall asleep. vitamin B6 helps your body produce melatonin so if you don’t want to take a pill make sure you are getting enough B6. you usually want to take maybe about 15-20 mins before bed. you also want to take it at about the same time every night to reset your own melatonin levels to the same time and your body will get used to it. i try not to take it everynight so my body doesn’t "need" it and will work the way it is supposed to.
as for the scared of the dark think…i recommend a night light. don’t be embarrased about being afraid of the dark, we all have our fears. my boyfriend is 22 and is still also afraid of the dark. what he does that helps him is he has a night light that we plug in everynight. he also has the fear of being grabbed. he checks under his bed and all the other places people can hide in his room before bed. he also blocks his door with his guitar case so that if someone tries to come in while he is sleeping he will hear and wake up.
