Rif pointed this out. Look at this guy’s lower back musculature. Absolutely amazing.

Extremely sore back in early pregnancy….getting nervous…? I’m only 6 weeks pregnant, but today I have almost unbearable lower back pain. I don’t have cramps nor any spotting, but this is unreal. Is this considered normal at only 6 weeks pregnant? Should I call my ob/gyn if it lasts?
This is also my 2nd baby, but it’s been five years between the two. I never remember experiencing this with my first son.
if the pain also feels like its going down your leggs it is a pinched nerve which is commen in pregnancy even only 6 weeks. Its always best to call your dr. if you are having pain. References :
I had a pain like that but it was later in the pregnany, actually the same week as I had my daughter. I had a kidney stone. The pain was in the lower back but on my right side. I couldn’t walk or hardly move though. Just something to think about. I’d call your dr. first thing in the morning to be safe. References :
Every pregnancy is different, so while there will be some similarities, there will also be many differences. It may be that your body is adjusting to the weight of your uterus. Unless you are getting dizzy, feel tingling or are spotting, i would not worry too much. One thing to also consider, did you sleep in a different position than normal? Could that have started the back pain? If it goes on for more that a day or two I would call the doctor, just in case. References :
At six weeks gestional age, you pain is a bit concerning.
Your pain could be caused from a "corpus luteum cyst of pregnancy." This is an ovarian cyst which forms in the ovary which ovulated the egg for this pregnancy. It’s more complex than this explanation, but suffice it to say, they are normal, often painful, and almost alway go away on their own.
However, if the pain is "unbearable" that is highly unusual. Seriously, if I were you I would have already called my doctor. Depending on what time it is where you are, if the office is currently open, call them now. If not, you should consider going to the emergency room. You could have an ectopic pregnancy. (A pregnancy which implanted outside the uterus, can rupture and cause YOUR death). This is a very serious situation.
If you don’t feel comfortable with my answer, and thing you should ask your doctor, i urge you to do so. You should be able to reach her by calling the office, getting the answering service, and telling the service you need to speak to your OB immediately. Describe your symptoms to your doctor and follow her advice. But if you cannot get in touch with your doctor, really….you should go to the ER.
I am an ultrasound technician and I’ve seen many, many ectopic pregnancies. Not all pelvic pain is an ectopic…Indeed MOST are NOT. However, if you do have an ectopic pregnancy, and your symptoms are suspicious of one, then you are in immediate danger. References :
Hopefully it’s nothing major to worry about, I just wanted to tell you I am praying for you that everything turns out ok. You have been such an inspiration for me while TTC, so thank you and I wish you well! References :
I had this too; I’m not sure what was causing it though. My doctor ruled out a UTI. Luckily, for me, it didn’t last too long. (I do have a history of ovarian cyst & I suspected that.)
At 26 weeks, the back pain is coming back but it completely different than what I had early on.
I try to treat myself to a trip to my chiropractor & massage therapist once a week. I don’t know how I survived my 1st pregnancy without those guys. You could always give it a try! (The massage, itself, is well worth it!!!) Most insurance companies cover it.
